Watercolor Poppies

 Hey! 

So I don't know what happened to yesterday....I met up with an old school friend I haven't seen in several years, it was meant to be a coffee which turned into a full day of shopping and a turkish restaurant for lunch. It was lovely but I was shattered and had sewing to crack on with when I arrived home. 

So today I thought I'd share a pretty and simple card that I made a little while ago. 

Stamp Set: Happy Watercolor

Ink: Versa Mark, Calypso Coral

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White

Big Shot: Beautifully Baroque TIEF

Embellishments: Baker's Twine

Other: White Embossing Powder

The embossed is the simple background for the main focal point of the card. This is just a little bit of white heat embossing of the flowers which I then coloured in with a blender pen and some calypso coral ink for a watercolour effect. 

There's something quite aesthetically pleasing about allowing images to run off the edge of the card. I keeps the eye moving and to me, it looks as if it were a small snapshot of a garden just bursting with flowers! Do you enjoy letting your images run off the edge? 

This doesn't need pearls or anything fancy. Baker's twine and a simple little sentiment are the perfect finishing touches for this card.

Simple Sunday - Watercolour Rainbow

Hi! 

I've go another quick and simple Sunday card for you.

Stamp Set: Happy Watercolor

Ink:Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Baked Brown Sugar

Cardstock: Whisper White

This is one of the cards that we made at March's card club! A pretty and simple one layer beauty! I am totally in love with rainbow colours at the moment. They just add a real pop of colour and just look SO happy and cheerful! 

 Best to start with the middle colours and work out to make sure you get all the colours on there, I think they look best overlapped a little, this also means that you can fit more colours onto the card! 

A nice happy sentiment in a neutral brown was all it needed. 

It's Mother's Day here in the UK today so I have my parents, Stuart's parents and his brother Rich over for dinner today - best get cracking on with the roast!

Simple Sunday - Watercolor Note

Hello!

What a lovely day yesterday was, we had a pretty chilled day - I did some designing for a little something I'm making and sewing at the moment. I'll be sure to show it when its done and gifted! Stuart and I had brunch - english muffins, eggs and bacon - yummy! Which was followed by a walk around the park and our first ice-cream of the year! The ice-cream van was there and it was just too tempting - so we shared one. I also got my camera to the repair shop, the guy doesn't know exactly what's gone wrong but its something to do with the lens - fingers crossed its not too difficult and costly to fix. I'm currently using my little pocket camera for my card photos and whiles its okay, it just isn't the same as my digital SLR. What did you do with your Saturday?

Anyway, here's a nice and simple card today.

These beautiful notecards come with a watercoloured effect complete with a watercolor paper texture too (they even have the thickness you'd associate with watercolour paper)! They look great and are so lovely to use. All yo need is a sentiment and a little image or punch and voila you're done! 

Here I stamped the orchid flower from the Happy Watercolor set and using just a couple of ink pads and a blender pen, coloured in the flowers. Added a sentiment and I'm done.

Simple Sunday Watercolor

Hi there! 

Wow, it was a late one yesterday! Stuart and I went to London yesterday, and not ALL went to plan. We had planned to do our own thing in the daytime - he'd go to the Science Museum and see a Hidden Universe IMAX film and all the "cool" sciencey things while I hopped next door to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum.

So we parted ways, I ended up standing in a queue to get in in the rain for a good half hour, finally got in just in time for my ticket time, got a bit lost but eventually found the exhib and entered. I'd see about 5 or 6 of the 100 photos on show and then a announcement came over the speakers "Attention, attention please. This is an emergency evacuation, please exit through the nearest fire escape." Oh great! I happened to be standing next to the escape so we all filed out, just in time for it to begin raining AGAIN! I was cold, wet, hungry (Stuart had my lunch in his bag!!), alone and totally confused about what was going on. Stood around waiting for half an hour and finally gave up when it started POURING with rain and headed for the Science Museum....I went back mid afternoon but they were sold out so couldn't readmit me and weren't very helpful with trying to give me a refund - apparently it has to be requested online because I bought the ticket on their website(!?!?!).

For dinner I'd been dying to try out a place called Wahaca which does Mexican food - I've heard its good and its run by one of my favourite Master Chef winners! Could we find the place!?! Nope! We has to settle for Pizza Express instead....oh well.

 In the evening we went to see Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall. It was AMAZING!! Apart from a 45 minute break in the show half way through the second half due to a technical problem. They such a good job at picking up where they'd left off and everything, plus, some of the tricks they were doing suspended from ropes etc...I don't blame them for stopping due to lighting issues! I'd totally go see them again! Hopefully next time without the technical breaks though!

This is an easy one layer card - great for whipping up super quick when you need an emergency card or perfect for posting as its completely flat!

This stamp set has these beautiful gradient stamps in it that look just like watercolour - this gives the look of watercolour with none of the hassle of watercolouring! 

Really liking this out of the lines effect on the flower here!
