springtime is precious

Sorry I've been a bit hit and miss the last couple of weeks. Its been super busy around here - this week hasn't been as bad as last week but still really busy. I decided to take a day off on Tuesday though, just felt worn out and needed a day off of being creative just to sit back and enjoy some me time.

So I just thought I'd show you my lovely afternoon in picture form.

An AMAZING veggie stirfry, chick flicky movie and chocolate! Yum!!

Last few day I have also not been feeling too good - migraines, tummy ache etc. Ugh! anyway I thought I use some of this down time to catch up on my blogging and prepare for my SUPER long busy weekend!!!

Below is one of the cards from card club this month.

Stamp Set: Precious Butterflies (Hostess)
Ink: So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso
Cardstock: Whisper White
DSP: Domestic Goddess
Big Shot: Top Note, Beautiful Wings Embosslit
Accessories: Rhinestones
Extras: Sponge

I cut a mask with the top note die and teporarily adhered it to my card base. I then sponged with So Saffron and Certainly Celery ink  to fill in the blank masked area. I then stamped the spring sprig around the outside before removing the mask. I stamped my sentiment on the card and added some embosslit butterflies!

Do you like it? Why not leave me a comment and let me know!

simply stampin' challenge week 47

This week it is another colour challenge over on the Simply Stampin' Challenge blog. I've been looking forward to this one - its time to flaunt your girly side and get down with the pinks and purples. Here we go...

These colours match some of the papers in Stampin' Up!'s Flirtatious DSP so I thought it was time to whack it out and get cracking! If you don't have all the colours listed, no worries, just use the closest ones that you do have!

Doilies and Butterflies

Stamp Set: Teen Tiny Wishes
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo
Cardstock: Whisper White
DSP: Flirtatious
Big Shot: Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Top Note
Accessories: Pearls
Extras: Colour Spritzer, Sponges

So I wanted to try something different and I had the idea that I wanted to use the top note negative as a mask so that I could sponge the top note shape onto the card. I then sponged the masked area with Pretty in Pink ink. Next I tacked down one of the doilies from the die cut sheet in the Flirtatious paper and using the Colour Spritzer and my Melon Mambo marker I spritzed it well to give the doily outline! I was planning on using the correct side of the Mambo doily next to the spritzed one but it was a bit too dominant - then I had an idea - to cut out the centre of the doily and use what remained as a frame! Inside I stamped the sentiment and then used the butterflies embosslit to cut some cute little butterflies from the Flirtatious DSP. I added some pearls to finish it off.
I thought it would be a shame not to use the centre of the doily so I used it to decorate the inside of the card and added a couple more butterflies!

Wow long explanation today - sorry about that! So what do you think? I hope you liked it! Please leave me a comment and then head on over to the Simply Stampin' Challenge blog to see the rest of the design team entries and then enter yourself! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

spring is just around the corner

Good morning all! Getting back into the groove here with another little number from the Spring Mini.

Spring Girl

Stamp Set: Easter Blossoms
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Wisteria Wonder
Punch: Scallop Trim Border, Decorative Label
Big Shot: Top Note
Extras: White Gel Pen

I began with a card front that was a third smaller than the back, so I then punched the scallop trim border,  next I used part of the negative scrap left from the top note die in wisteria wonder to create this edge trim. I added a thin strip of chocolate chip to finish off the edge. The card front is still smaller than the back but it adds a nice look when the card is closed and a strip of the very vanilla is showing. I stamped the girl silhouette in chocolate chip. Also in chocolate chip I stamped the sentiment on some wisteria wonder and punched it out with he decorative label punch. I had a small strip left which I used the decorative label punch to add a detail to the ends and adhered it over the top. Finally I used a white gel pen to add a couple stitching lines.

I hope you liked this creation, I will be back later today with some more information about the Sale-A-Bration that has started today!

Happy Stamping,

simply stampin' challenge, week 32

Good Morning!

First off I would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes over the past week - I am now feeling A LOT better! A bit gutted that I missed an entire week of my life sick on the sofa and now have a couple of REALLY hectic weeks! Oh well, sometimes it cannot be helped!

Now, here we are on Saturday again and that means another Simply Stampin' Challenge!! This week is a Colour Challenge and this time the colours are....

I have a LOVELY project to share with you - I had lots of fun making this one. It was inspired by a sketch from a book called Folding Ideas for Cards and Envelopes by Laurence K. Withers.

Hugs Because I Care

Stamp Set: Just Perfect Alphabet, Precious Butterflies
Ink: Soft Suede
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Peach Parfait
DSP: Domestic Goddess
Punch: Scallop Edge, Decorative Label, 3/4" Circle
Big Shot: Top Note
Accessories: Mini Brads, Brown Baker's Twine (non-SU)
Extras: Paper Piercer, Mat Pack

I started out by wanting to make a different than normal card. So this card all folds up with some of the sentiment on the outside and then continues inside. I think its a lovely and special card to give to someone going through a hard time - that's what immediately screamed to me when I saw the colours - so sunny and happy looking!
I started by folding my card then cut a curve on one of the flaps. I added some gorgeous sunny Daffodil Delight DSP from the Domestic Goddess collection - it was all sun rays and and sparkles - I just thought it was really fitting! I punched a scallop trim to add the the front flap, and some small circles that could be used to make a tie to hold the card together. I used brads to attach the circles for the closure. On the inside I added a portion of the Top Note to the centre and a sentiment to the bottom corner punched out with the decorative label punch. I then stamped some butterflies and cut out some too, to decorate the inside and outside (I used some of these butterflies to cover up the backs of the brads. I used a combination of the Just Perfect Alphabet and my own hand writing to make up the sentiment. Finally I added faux stitching around all the edges.

Now a really in depth card for this week but I hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of a different card and have been inspired to try something different yourself! I'd love to see what you come up with.

Please visit the Simply Stampin' Challenge blog to see what the other talented design team members have created for you this week and then get creating yourself! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping by, please do leave me a comment,

p...p...p...pick up a penguin

Just a quick little CASed card for you today - sorry I didn't jot down the name and web address so if this is yours - please do claim the credit, I think he's awesome!

I found this on the internet when I was looking for interesting Big Show ideas to show my class ladies and came a cross this cute little guy! I've altered him a bit as I don't have any oval punches.

Penguin

Stamp Set: n/a
Ink: n/a
Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red
Big Shot: Top Note
Punches: Decorative Label, Itty Bitty, 1 3/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Corner Rounder
Extras: White Gel Pen

His name is Marvin, he sits on my mantelpiece and is just such a happy little chappy!
Quite a simple card - even simpler if you own the correct punches, but if you don't, here's what I did - I punched out the circles and then temorarily adhered them to a piece of thin scrap paper so i could slid it back into the punch and re-punch. I kept of punching until I had the right shapes. It was a little fiddly but not too bad.

I hope you like him as much as I do. The question I have is, does he need a bow tie? Several people who have visited my house have commented on the lack of a bow tie, so what do you think? Is he missing a vital piece to his ensemble?

Please do leave a comment and come back tomorrow for another little creation!

Hugs,

just add cake

Another of the new Designer Papers is called Just Add Cake. A collection of brightly coloured stripes, dots numbers, letters in really scrummy cake and icing like colours. It really is a very yummy pack!

Just Add Top Note

Stamp Set: Something to Celebrate (Hostess - Retired)
Ink: Wild Wasabi
Cardstock: Whisper White, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi
Punches: Modern Label, 5 Petal, 1" Circle, Itty Bitty
Big Shot: Fun Flowers, Top Note

So I cut squares of the DSP and adhered it in a patchwork style to the cardstock then ran it though the Big Shot. I assembled a flower out of cardstock in the same colours contained in the DSP. I finally stamped and punched out the sentiment and then ran my Wild Wasabi marker around the top note to give a very little extra definition against the Whisper White background.

I hope you liked today's share using some more new products! I have more Just Add Cake projects coming up over the next few days so please do stay tuned!

Let me know what you think and leave a comment.

Happy Stampin',
