Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

One awesome thing about being half American is getting to celebrate thanksgiving! Turkey, stuffing, mash, sweet potato cassarole, wild rice, spaghetti squash, roast parsnips, carrots, cranberry sauce and of course all finished off with pumpkin pie and pecan pie!

I love that its a great time to come together with friends and family, eat good food and think upon all those many things we are thankful for! As we don't get the Thursday off work we celebrated last Saturday, and as tradition, I decorated the table!

The dried indian corn was something Stu and I picked up on our holiday this summer. It was at a place called The Corn Palace - the oddest place ever, in the middle of no-where! Its this big building with a basketball court, auditorium and museum inside and on the outside, decorated in dried coloured corn!

Pretty table setting! I used the Gratitude for Days simply created kit. Since I'd decided not to do the project it was originally designed for I needed to find other ways to use it up. Each setting had a pocket with a sheet of the note paper inside for the guest to write what they were thankful for. The front was decorated with a bit of DSP, washi tape and some punches.

As a little gift for coming and sharing this special time together I made everyone a box using the Curvy Keepsake Box thinlits with some cajun craze card and the Colour Me Autumn DSP. It was just the right size for 3 Lindt chocolates!

I matched the flower arrangement to the colours in the Colour Me Autumn DSP. Love that deep purple!

Pumpkin pie - YUM!!

I hope that wether you are American or not that today you will take some time out to be thankful for all your blessings! I know that I certainly have plenty to thank God for!

Have a great thanksgiving day,

Happy Stampin',

Gingham Washi

Hello!

So, back to work today! I was kind of looking forward to going back but I came down with a rotten cold overnight. I went to bed with a sore throat and had a very disturbed, restless night...this morning I really didn't want to go to work. Anyway, I've somehow made it through the day and back home...I'm curled up on the sofa, shivering, feeling very rough and totally gross. Praying I'll feel better by tomorrow morning.

Today I've got a CAS card for this week's Paper Players' challenge! The challenge this week is to use washi tape. Now, I've got a little confession, I love washi tape - its super cute and fun, I've seen some totally gorgeous cards made using it but for some reason I really struggle to use it. Anyway, I think I've found a little design I'm happy with!

Stamp Set: Kind & Cosy
Ink: Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz
Cardstock: Whisper White
Punch: Itty Bitty
Embellishments: Gingham Garden Washi, Rhinestones

So this is a really simple card, but all those rhinetones really add a sparkly wow factor! Random strips of washi tape were applied to the background - they're just torn off the roll.

I used the brush tip of the stampin' write markers to carefully colour in the sentiment - I really like the floral "you" coloured in all the different colours! I think it just makes it look that bit more special.

I had indended to leave the card there but I looked at it a few times and it just didn't look finished. I decided it needed a some more colour and a bit more washi tape. The tape was laid and punched from a scrap piece of white. The flowers were dotted around and I added rhinestones.

Again, I thought I was finished but I wondered what'd it'd be like with a few white flowers dotted in the background, I punched a few and laid them out and decided that was the exact touch the card needed.

I'm really pleased with this card, I hope you like it too!

I hope you have a lovely day!

Simple Sunday - Masculine Washi

Hi there!

I thought it was time to share another simple masculine card - around here they're always in demand and I'm constantly trying to think of fresh ideas.

Embarrassing story time...so I made today's card at the same time as last week's Freshly Made card. Now I'm not very good at remembering to get birthday cards to folks on time so I thought having a few belated cards in stock would be good. So I'd photographed them both and stuck them in the card box. Last Sunday morning I was in a hurry to write Stuart's uncle a birthday card and reached for the one that I'd just made....unfortunately the wrong one! He opened it and said..."Its not belated, my birthday is today." Oh dear, I was very embarrassed!

Stamp Set: Remembering Your Birthday
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar
Cardstock: Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
Washi Tape: Retro Fresh

I know I'm not a great lover of diagonals but I'm trying to explore different things and I thought this was a fun way to use washi tape.

Starting with the stripy layered it up, one V at a time. I then used the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the birthday stamp just in the perfect position.

What do you think? This would be fun with any of Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous washi tapes.

Happy Stampin',
