My Digital Monday - Hush-A-Bye Baby

Hello! 

Afraid I wasn't feeling too great yesterday and blogging took a back seat. But I'm back today and have a nice digital scrapbook page for you today. I took this photo of Arthur last time Kat and the boys were over here. He was just looking so adorable asleep in his car seat I just couldn't resist taking a quick snap.

I just loved the colours in the photo and I often like to try and incorporate some of the colours into the decoration and background of the page. The real stand out colours in the photo were are the rainbow hedgehog. I thoght it'd be nice to do a band of the scallops in colours similar to the hedgehog and keep the rest of the page quite plain and muted. 

I finally got a chance to play with the Sale-A-Bration brush stamp set Banner Blast for a few banners and hearts to finish off the page along with a simple title. 

I'll be back tomorrow with something new to share!

My Digital Monday - Park Playdate

Hi! 

Did you have a nice Easter? I had a lovely day! After church we went to my parents' for a delish lunch. My brother was home from uni for the weekend too so it was nice to see him too! Mom even got us Easter eggs and with a little begging hid them for us. Oh I am such a kid sometimes! 

In the evening we had a special Easter service at church followed by a very yummy supper! We got invited back to Steve and Deb's for a cuppa afterwards and didn't get home til past 1am! Boy was I beat! 

So, its Monday again, and I have another digital project to share with you! This week I've made a scrapbook page using a little snap I took at the park with Kat and the boys last week. Euan had so much fun playing on all the swings and slides...his favourite was this steering wheel! It was tough to drag him away!

On facebook I am part of a group for a MDS Virtual Crop and the hosts have crop nights every so often. There are challenges to participate in, its good fun. Unfortunately last week's was the night of the wedding, I was beat and just couldn't stay up. I noticed that one of the challenge techniques was alignment. I had to have a go! 

Here's a helpful little video on how to align objects with MDS. Its very simple to use and makes aligning objects a cinch.

I kept the layout pretty simple with some little DSP tiles and a few hearts. I love picking up colours from the photos in elements on the page. There were lots of blues, greens and yellow in the paper so I wanted something punchy for the title and a few other scattered elements - the red worked perfectly and really brought out the red steering wheel in the photo! 

I'd please how this turned out and it really didn't take too long either!

I'm going to make the most of my last couple days before going back to work on Wednesday! We're out for a 21st birthday meal tonight and besides from that, I have some serious crafting to crack on with! Exciting!

My Digital Monday - Vintage Bike

Hello! 

Monday again? I'm still enjoying being on holiday! For those of you working, at least you can find solace in the fact that its Easter next weekend which means a shorter working week, long weekend and lots of chocolate!!!!!! Yay! 

My day is shaping up to be pretty good, I think. Mom and I are going into town shopping this morning. I know I went in last week, so don't really need to go but Mom wants some new clothes for work and I happen to be her shopping companion - I tell her what looks good and the such! 

This afternoon I need to do some housework - huge stack of ironing I've been ignoring for far too long! Then in the evening Stuart has the wedding rehearsal then we are all out for a nice meal! Happy times! 

Today is a bit of a different My Digital Monday.... I've used MDS but paired it with some hand paper crafting too! They call this style of card a "hybrid".

So this came about because a friend of mine asked if I'd make her a birthday card for her boyfriend. He's crazy into bicycles, so she really wanted a nice bike card for him. I have to admit I was a bit stumped, I didn't really have a "masculine" looking bike stamp and decided it was WAY to complex to try and punch art it within the short time window I had to make the card. 

I decided my best bet for finding and appropriate bike stamp/paper would be to see if MDS had anything...and I found this vintage bike beauty. I love that I can resize it so I could make a background of small bikes with a larger one for the centre piece. The pieces were printed off then I got to chopping up and making it into more of a card! 

I love the little banner details - I think it really helps to just soften up the card and make it look like a bit more of a celebration. 

I ended up stamping and cutting the sentiment into a little banner because I messed up stamping onto the card - I thought I had stamped it hard enough but when I lifted the stamp only half had stamped! Argh! Does that ever happen to you?

So this is my first ever proper attempt at a hybrid card. I've used MDS to print out sentiments before but never actual images. I think it was quite successful and will definitely be trying it out again. Do you ever make hybrids?

My Digital Monday - About to Blossom Feathers

 Hi there!

*Sorry its SO late!! I started writing this post for today then got busy and side tracked and it dodn't get finished til the very end of the day!*

Its Monday! I'm on holiday - woohoo! Today I have card club and then going to crack on with some sewing - gotta get a project finished this week! 

Monday means its time for another My Digital Studio project...ready to see what I've got for you this week?

I treated myself to a few new things for MDS recently - I had my eye on the feather woodcuts and just had to have them! They look so lovely filled with the bright and bold floral DSP!

The background is again done with messing around with transparency and opacity of the layers - love the subtle flowers which really tie the feathers and background together. 

Inside I just wanted to finish off with a bit of a sentiment and another feather! The ampersand stamp actually had 2 ANDs sandwiching it so I just cropped them off! 

Its really quite a simple little card. Sorry for being so brief today, its late, I'm tired and got lots to do tomorrow!

My Digital Monday - Happy Life!

Hi! 

Its Monday again! I have a full week, so it should be interesting at the very least! 

So, Monday is the My Digital Monday slot. This week I made a pretty simple scrapbook page. This is actually just a random scrap book page. Its an old photo of Stuart and I from about 6 years ago! We look so young!! 

I wanted to make a spring time page - this is a bit of a different spring look. Instead of peppering it with plenty of colour and using lots of fresh white I thought I'd use a black base. This way all the white and ice-cream colour embellishments would really pop off the dramatic background. 

Also another reason for choosing black is just for the challenge! Generally black is a colour I don't use, its bold and can be quite intimidating. I'm trying to conquer my fear and just try something new! What do you think? Are there colours you're scared of?

All the flowers and the cute bunting and banner are embellishments - they are pre coloured so all I needed to do was add them where I liked. 

The two sentiments I used were stamps from the coordinating stamp set to the embellishments so they fit together perfectly style wise. 

I added drop shadows behind all of the embellishments and layers so it gives all the elements a little lift - takes 2 seconds but really improves the look at work.

My Digital Monday SUO92

Hi there! 

Its another new week. I am having a coffee date with my bestie, Kat, and her two gorgeous boys! We're trying out a new(ish) place called The Beehive just down the road from where I live. I'll let you know how I get on! 

I'm looking forward to catching up with Kat and having more cuddles with Euan and Arthur. 

Now, if you've been reading regularly you might have read about My Digital Studio - I've talked about it several times but I thought it might be fun to actually show you what you can do with it. I'm planning on having a weekly segment where I show you something made with MDS. Sometimes it'll be a card, sometimes a home decor item and probably a lot of the time I'll show you scrapbooking! It'll encourage me to scrapbook regularly and I hope you'll enjoy seeing them too! Do you like this idea? 

So what do I say here? There are plenty of templates you can use to make quick and easy cards or scrapbook pages where you can just add photos and customise little bits if you wish but you can also assemble projects from scratch. Like I did below.

I thought I'd just share maybe 5 things I'm really loving about creating projects with MDS:

1. I love that you can resize stamps/punches/embellishments so they're the perfect size for what you want. 

2. You can change the opacity on your layers which just looks fab - lowering the opacity will make the object lighter and semi-transparent. This is great if you want to create a soft look or layer lots of elements together. 

3. There's no wastage. If something isn't the correct colour or is surplus to requirement, just delete it. 

4. Doesn't require lots of space as everything is contained in one program on the computer/laptop it doesn't take up boxes and boxes of room!

5. Give your digital projects some lift with drop shadows.

There's lots more I could say about MDS but these are what I'm particularly enjoying at the moment.

Punch: Fancy Flower, Itty Bitty, Bird Builder, Any Day Label, Lots of Tags

Embellishments: Pearls, Baker's Twine, Tea Lace Doily, Stitching

Here I lowered the DSP opacity to 50% so the white isn't really very white but the pink behind shows through. Its a soft background. Neat huh? 

You can crop a punch/stamp which is what I did here for the individual leaves. I then did copy&paste for super quick leaves the same size and colour. 

I added drop shadows to all my layers to give this card a more 3D look - it really takes a flad digital project to the next level!
