Stitched Confetti Shaker

Hi! 

Well I totally forgot yesterday, I was really in the crafting groove plus I had a last minute card a friend asked me to make for her so was wrapped up in getting that sorted and then it got late so I just went to bed and completely forgot about blogging! Anyway I am here today and have a pretty little something to share with you!

Today's been a busy day at work, glad to be home now. I'm going shopping with my friend Ally. We haven't hung out in ages so it'll be really great to see here again, get some dinner and mooch around the shops! I seriously need some work clothes! I don't have many suitable clothes so I think that's a very good excuse to shop!

I know I have a major peeve about cards with things on a wonk, I am really trying to get over this peeve and actually found this card working better with the sentiment working on an angle in conjunction with the mini clothes peg. 

I've been really wanting to do more sewn cards and as I had free time on Monday I thought it'd be a good chance to whip the sewing machine out and do this card. I just placed the vellum over the top and sewed it almost all the way, posted the "confetti" through the gap then sewed it up the rest of the way. I've got to admit I really like the frosted confetti floating around.

A few little confetti pieces placed over the top  just lift the card and bring little pops of colour to card. I really like the sparkly dots of glimmer paper in the centre as a change from rhinestones or pearls. 

Do you ever sew on cards? I'm actually amazed at how easy it is - the machine seems to take to the paper really well and its such a fun look. Also, its a pretty cheap way of jazzing up a card.

My Digital Monday - Cake & Ice Cream

Hi there! 

Its the beginning of another week, last full week working at school doing my current job. It'll be Easter holidays after this week is over and then the girl I'm covering for will be back after the break. I'm actually really going to miss it, its challenging and I know I really don't see the best side of the school but I'm enjoying it!

Today I've got a digital card for you today using the Colour Q colour challenge for the week. They just looked really yummy and just like ice-cream colours.

Stamp Set: Sweet Scoops, Cake & Ice Cream

Punch: Curly Label, Cupcake, Scallop Edge

I thought I'd run with the idea of ice-cream and cake and do a light and bright birthday card! I'd had the Sweet Scoop MDS stamp set on my wishlist for a little while so I thought I'd treat myself to it as it would be perfect for the card...I knew I would be using this set again so £2.95 seemed like a right bargain! 

I stretched out the colours I had by changing the opacity  which gave me lighter shades of the same colour. I also lowered the opacity on the polka dot DSP as it was a bit in your face. 

There's a handy "matt" button on the MDS punches that will allow you to add a matt to the punched shape, I just added a really thin one in 100% intensity grey just for a bold clean line around the punch. Lovely, right? 

I thought I'd just do a pretty little inside for the card also.

Hope you enjoyed another MDS creation. I love being able to sit on the sofa, watching tv with my laptop and create a little something with MDS.

Cherry Cupcake

Hello! 

Again, a second post today, its just a really quick post with a card made with this week's Freshly Made Sketch. 

I started this card on Wednesday, but it didn't get finished until today. I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do but was just struggling with the perfect sentiment. In the end I couldn't find the sentiment I wanted and didn't have time to make up my own so I changed my idea slightly to get this finished in time.

Stamp Set: Create a Cupcake

Ink: Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake, Raspberry Ripple

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green

Punch: 1 3/4" Circle, Cupcake Builder

Embellishments: Whisper White Baker's Twine, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding

I thought it'd be cute to do a patterned background with lots of little cherries. I originally wanted to make a big cherry for the topper in place of the cupcake but that didn't work out in the end. It was quite time consuming but I like it better than the cherry stamp. 

I layered up some ribbon and baker's twine and then a cupcake on top of that. Cute huh? Okay, hope you enjoyed this, hopefully I'll be more organised on challenges this next week!

Birthday Cupcake

So first day of new temporary job was yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Feeling pretty shattered - so much to take in and learn. I even conquered my fear of phones to call some parents to chase up some kids' absences!

I cracked out another set that's been gathering too much dust of late - Create a Cupcake! Such a sweet, yummy set! I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the cupcakes perfectly aligned in the background. 

Love how different the cupcakes in the background look to the popped up one by just stamping them on different coloured card! 

If you don't like fussy, intricate cutting the punch is a total gem! I did add the flower which I hand cut but you could add a candle or cherry that comes on the punch instead! 

Just a little quick stamping inside to pretty up things a little more! 

Not sure where I got the idea of this colour combo, but it kinda works. The razzleberry really stands out amongst those pastels and neutrals. What do you think? Like the combo?

No I'm off to do some baking, tidying, a little crafting and then hit the hay! Thankful for a better night last night, I didn't sleep well Thursday, it was really disturbed and I seemed to have nightmare dreams about being chased....oh dear!

Fly Away

Are you having a good week? I'm having a good old craft today! Yay! Been looking forward to this for a while - for one reason or another I just haven't had much chance to get into my work room and do some good ol' crafting lately!

I thought today I'd show you a little something I made a while ago...its perfect for Spring and Summer! 

Stamp Set: Fabulous Phrases

Ink: Pool Party, White Craft

Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Pool Party, Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, Whisper White

DSP: Sweet Sorbet

Punch: Triangle, Pennant Builder, Owl Builder, Cupcake Builder

Embellishments: Cayplso Coral Baker's Twine, Basic Grey Baker's Twine (retired)

I love the soft whispy clouds in the background here. I used the frosting from the cupcake builder as a mask which I then sponged with a sponge dauber. I didn't sponge too thickly so that some of the Soft Sky colour showed through!

The triangle punch and the pennant punch were the perfect size to place together to make a kite. I used thin strips of cardstock to cover up the join. The tail bows are just two little hearts from the owl builder punch joined together. I think that works rather nicely! 

I liked the different way of compiling a sentiment that I tried out here too - stamped each word and cut it out individually - perfect for when you can be bothered or are having one of those days when you can get things lined up straight!

When Skies Are Gray...

Busy day today, house work, grocery shopping, finishing organising card club cards and materials for tonight. I've also got to go do Aunty Lil's housework and dinner too! 

The weather has been doing crazy things lately so I thought this little number was perfect...

Love this little sentiment! The stamp actually comes with a little cloud and smiley sun with it but I thought it'd be cute to make my own version with punches. I used the negative from the cupcake frosting as a mask to make some light and fluffy sponged clouds! 

I bet you're wondering how I made those raindrops?! Its the little heart from the owl builder punch cut in half. It makes perfectly shaped little rain drops! Neat trick, huh?

Two by Two...

Hello there!

I hope you are having a nice weekend? The weather is a bit glum here, cloudy and cold but the silver lining is, it is dry! I had a little mosey around a craft fayre and plant sale this morning and bought an azalea. Rhododendrons are one of my favourite plants, the flowers are just so gorgeous, unfortunately they're big and I didn't have room for one so seeing as azaleas are like a smaller version, I had to get one for our garden when we got married and moved in to our house. I am sad to say I am really no gardener, things die on me. Anyway, my azalea died and I've had a dead plant in a pot for quite a while now, so I thought I'd give it another go. Wish me luck!

Anyway, enough of my morning's antics. Back in March my friend Lisa had a baby boy, so of course I had to make a card for the new babe. 

I'd recently got the Two by Two stamp, I am so digging the sweet Noah's Ark with all the animals crammed in there. Its just adorable! So I thought I'd make it into a new baby card!

Big Shot: Labels Framelits, Adorning Accents 

I had some fun with blender pens to colour this in, the watercolour paper really does make a lovely surface to colour on, its thick and holds the ink really well without buckling and pilling! I love that with the use of a blender pen I can colour in with all my ink pads and make it look like a lovely watercolour! 

I thought the hearts would look super sweet on the rain clouds and then I thought how awesome would it beto use the hearts rain drops coming from the clouds, isn't it adorable!?! 

I think what I love most is reversing the matting layer! I often use neutal card for the base and the main focus of the card with a coloured matt but I wanted the clouds and watercolouring to really show up so I reversed the matt. Here the matt is vanilla - love it!!!

Before I go I just have to tell you about my amazing grilled cheese sandwich (I wish I had a photo to show you now!) It consists of buttered bread so it grills nicely in the pan, the inside the bread is smeared with cream cheese, topped with shredded cheddar, fried bacon, tortilla chips, chilli peppers and then more cheddar and another piece of cream cheesy bread! Oh my goodness it was freakin' amazing!!

21 cupcakes

My cousin was 21 last month and therefore it called for a special card! I've already shown you the "twenty one" card that I was commissioned to make by my cousin so I knew I wanted to do something really different. Here's what I made...

Stamp Set: Create a Cupcake

Ink: Soft Suede, Perfect Plum, Peach Parfait, Rose Red, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizazz, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip

Cardstock:  Perfect Plum, Peach Parfait, Rose Red, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizazz, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Red Glitter cardstock

Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder

Punch: Cupcake Builder

So this card was small but VERY long! It concertinaed and each side had a piece of polka dot embossed cardstock and a cupcake on it! Each one was different but using a mixture of the above colours. Quite a complex card but I felt I needed a challenge and it turned out way cool in the end! Not a card I would make often but for a special birthday one is entitled to such a card! I hope she liked it! 

Do you like it? If you don't have this stamp set and punch already I would highly recommend getting it as its so much fun and so easy to whip up. A lot less mess and hassle than baking them and ZERO calories!!! Yay!

heart on a line

Last night was my first ever card club. I had 6 lovely ladies come and we all had a great time! In fact I have had such a good response to my card club that I have added another date for this month - this Friday (Feb 10th)! Heart on a Line

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes, I {heart} Hearts

Ink: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder

Cardstock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder

Punch: Cupcake Builder

Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder

Accessories: Linen Thread, Mini Clothes Peg

Extras: Sponges

So the edges of the cardstock were sponged lightly. The "clouds" are punched from the cupcake builder and run through the big shot for some texture. Linen thread was wrapped around the pool party cardstock and tied in a bow. Finally I stamped and cut out a heart and added it to the line with the mini clothes peg. Lastly I stamped a sentiment at the bottom in Wisteria. 

Hope you liked this cute little card - its very cheery!

yummy cupcakes!!

A quick creation showcasing the new Create A Cupcake stamp set and punch that is in the Sping mini at the moment.

Stamp Set: Create A Cupcake

Ink: Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Pear Pizzazz

Punch: Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border, Cupcake Builder

Big Shot: Polkadot embossing folder 

Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, Linen Thread

Extras: Red Permanent Marker 

I stamped the sentiment at the bottom of a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and then ran it through the polkadot embossing folder. I used the stamps from the Create a Cupcake set and the Cupcake Builder punch to stamp and punch out all the pieces for my cupcakes. The co-ordinating punch makes using this stamp set such a breeze! I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch here too and tied some linen thread around the card. Finally I adhered the cupcakes together and added a rhinestone to the centre of the flower for a little glitz. 

TIP: You can colour in the Basic Rhinestones and Pearls with permanent markers to make them coloured! This is the perfect way to insure you will always have the size and colour rhinestone/pearl you are after!!
