Stitched Confetti Shaker

Hi! 

Well I totally forgot yesterday, I was really in the crafting groove plus I had a last minute card a friend asked me to make for her so was wrapped up in getting that sorted and then it got late so I just went to bed and completely forgot about blogging! Anyway I am here today and have a pretty little something to share with you!

Today's been a busy day at work, glad to be home now. I'm going shopping with my friend Ally. We haven't hung out in ages so it'll be really great to see here again, get some dinner and mooch around the shops! I seriously need some work clothes! I don't have many suitable clothes so I think that's a very good excuse to shop!

I know I have a major peeve about cards with things on a wonk, I am really trying to get over this peeve and actually found this card working better with the sentiment working on an angle in conjunction with the mini clothes peg. 

I've been really wanting to do more sewn cards and as I had free time on Monday I thought it'd be a good chance to whip the sewing machine out and do this card. I just placed the vellum over the top and sewed it almost all the way, posted the "confetti" through the gap then sewed it up the rest of the way. I've got to admit I really like the frosted confetti floating around.

A few little confetti pieces placed over the top  just lift the card and bring little pops of colour to card. I really like the sparkly dots of glimmer paper in the centre as a change from rhinestones or pearls. 

Do you ever sew on cards? I'm actually amazed at how easy it is - the machine seems to take to the paper really well and its such a fun look. Also, its a pretty cheap way of jazzing up a card.

Dot, Dot, Dot

 Hello! 

I hope you had a good beginning to the week! Yesterday was not exactly as planned. Stuart managed to scrape off the surface of his nice new smart shoes on Sunday evening playing football (men never learn!!) anyway so we spent the day visiting shop after shop trying to get another pair! It was a stressful ordeal and I'm glad its in the past now. 

The wedding rehearsal was last night and he's been given all his orders now. Big day is today! So I have a very speedy post as we need to be heading out and there's lots to do.

This is a card we made back in February at card club, I just haven't got around to sharing it with you until now! I love the pattern we created by just stamping the dot stamp over and over - all the shades were created by restamping without reinking! 

Its a very simple card really, I like the small scallops which mimic the dots in the background and on the colourful strip. I also like the chevron which has a stronger geometric line to it which breaks up all the dots!

Retro Fresh

Hello!

Happy Saturday! Stuart has a mountain of work to do today so I'm left to my own devices - housework and stamping it is then! We are having a BBQ later - yum yum! 

I'm playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge today. When I saw the sketch, I must admin, it filled me with fear. I have a real thing about wonky things, or things on a diagonal... sometimes they can look great but if you don't get it exactly right it can look really wrong. I'm definitely a straight line girl! But I was determined to give it a go.

I looked at the sketch but wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been and ended up switching up the two layered pieces. I think it looks okay like this too!

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron

DSP: Retro Fresh

Punch: 1 3/4" Scallop Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Merry Minis

Embellishments: Sweet Sorbet Accessories

Other: White Gel Pen

I love the stripes and thought they'd make a great background on the card! Such scrummy colours! 

The scallop circles were distressed to look more fluffy and give a bit of texture to the card. 

The stars were a later addition that just seemed to fill in the space nicely.

Wish Big!

Hello there! 

Happy Thursday! Its almost the end of the week and that means two things....the weekend (!!!) and Stuart has a week off school (!!!). I am very much looking forward to spending a bit more quality time with my hubby next week. 

But back to today, I'm off to my demo friend Vicky's house for a long overdue catch up and to play with some new things - she always has goodies I'd love and vice versa so we get together and share the fun! I haven't seen her since convention which was November so this is very overdue! 

I also have a very clean and simple card for you!

I saw a card similar to this on the net, it was using hearts instead of stars and ribbon instead of the embossing. I immediately had the idea for this card and logged the idea in my head but didn't "pin" where I'd seen the original idea. If that's you, thank you for your inspiration! 

The embossing is actually another selective embossing card - using the Simply Scored stylus again - to just get the single row of arrows. It looks great but was definitely more tricky doing it blind! If you're patient and careful though its a great little technique to get more versatility out of your embossing folders though! 

Totally loving how these white on white stars work to just add a really subtle element to the card while leading the eye to the small pop of colour in the banners and glimmery star!

Inky Fingers Challenge 5

Monday has rolled around again and there's another Inky Fingers challenge for you all! This week we are back to another colour challenge and we've got some bright and cheery colours in store for you guys!

This is such a fun and cheery colour combo and works perfectly with the geometrical stamp set! 

I masked off the "for today" from the stamp "hooray for today" so that I could just stamp and clear emboss the word hooray! The triangles are jut stamped and repeating along the strip. It would have been a perfectly lovely little card just like that but I added a few chevrons and arrows which really transform this into a wow card. 

The stamp I used inside had a bunch of other words on it too which I didn't want so I just coloured in the words I wanted and stamped - I really love how the pens give more versatility to the stamps!

This super fun and bright card would be just perfect for anyone's birthday! Its also totally flat (the linen thread ties so tightly there's no bulk) and lightweight so its perfect for popping in the post without costing you a small fortune! 

Now you could totally do this card without the punch, just use the stampin-ma-jig to get everything lined up just the way you'd like it. I chose to stamp and punch so I could move everything around and switch up colour and patterns until I was happy.

I really love the little banner detail along the bottom edge - its another different way to use the banner and just filled that dead space I had kicking around perfectly!

Simple Triangles

Bonus post for you today! I almost forgot I had a card I made using the colour challenge over at ColorQ. Seeing as the deadline is tomorrow, I didn't trust myself to remember to share it tomorrow....my memory is so not good! 

Stamp Set: Geometrical

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Crisp Cantaloupe

Cardstock Whisper White

Punch: Triangle

NOTE: I didn't have Cameo Coral but I substituted it with Crisp Cantaloupe which I think works brilliantly too!

These colours are really rich and earthy, not a combination I'd have dreamt up but work really well. I wanted to keep this very clean and simple. I'd been inspired by the Pennant Parade card sample card in the Annual Catalouge so took the basic idea and just made it my own using the new Geometrical set which will be available to order from Tuesday in the new Spring Summer catty! (Its such a beautiful set!)

This is totally a card to make at a pinch, took about 3 minutes to throw together and switching up the colour combo would totally make this card totally different!

Monster Love

Hello there! 

Here's an idea for Valentine's day, or any occassion card really, where you'd want to write your little 'monster' a note to say you love them. I know I don't have any little monsters of my own but I had some of these cuties left from my Christmas project and was trying to find creative ways to use them.
