Rainbow Birthday

Hi there! 

I have a card I've made for The Card Concept today. The challenge this time is to create a birthday card. Now this seemed like a pretty simple challenge so I thought it'd be fun to try a new technique I found on you tube.

I loved the bright colours in the picture so I thought I'd use that as a little bit more inspiration! 

Stamp Set: See Ya Later (SAB)

Ink: Versa Mark, Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper

Other: Embossing Powder, Water, White Gel Pen

I stamped and embossed the sentiment first on the watercolor paper and then sponged on the ink like a fun rainbow all over the watercolor paper. Next, splatter water over the paper and allow to react with the paper for a little bit. It created this gorgeous splotchy effect. I used the heat tool to just dry the paper when I thought it'd reacted enough. After all this I then placed scrappy paper over the top and ironed off the embossing powder. The photos really don't go this technique justice, it just looks great, clean and matt watercolor paper like the embossing powder was never there.

The final touch is just a little dashed line around the edge with a white gel pen. 

Now Card Concept likes us to define our cards by a certain style. I'm really tossing up between Clean & Simple or Clean & Graphic. I think it fits quite well in both categories. Its such a simple card, totally flat and post friendly but really contains a massive WOW factor!! I'm in love, I hope you are too?

Birthday Cupcake

Hello! 

So first day of new temporary job was yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Feeling pretty shattered - so much to take in and learn. I even conquered my fear of phones to call some parents to chase up some kids' absences!

I cracked out another set that's been gathering too much dust of late - Create a Cupcake! Such a sweet, yummy set! I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to get the cupcakes perfectly aligned in the background. 

Love how different the cupcakes in the background look to the popped up one by just stamping them on different coloured card! 

If you don't like fussy, intricate cutting the punch is a total gem! I did add the flower which I hand cut but you could add a candle or cherry that comes on the punch instead! 

Just a little quick stamping inside to pretty up things a little more! 

Not sure where I got the idea of this colour combo, but it kinda works. The razzleberry really stands out amongst those pastels and neutrals. What do you think? Like the combo?

No I'm off to do some baking, tidying, a little crafting and then hit the hay! Thankful for a better night last night, I didn't sleep well Thursday, it was really disturbed and I seemed to have nightmare dreams about being chased....oh dear!

When Skies Are Gray...

Hello!

Busy day today, house work, grocery shopping, finishing organising card club cards and materials for tonight. I've also got to go do Aunty Lil's housework and dinner too! 

The weather has been doing crazy things lately so I thought this little number was perfect...

Ink: Whisper White, Basic Gray

Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Basic Gray, Pool Party

Punch: Cupcake Builder, 3/4" Circle, Boho Blossom, Owl Builder

Other: White Embossing Powder

Love this little sentiment! The stamp actually comes with a little cloud and smiley sun with it but I thought it'd be cute to make my own version with punches. I used the negative from the cupcake frosting as a mask to make some light and fluffy sponged clouds! 

I bet you're wondering how I made those raindrops?! Its the little heart from the owl builder punch cut in half. It makes perfectly shaped little rain drops! Neat trick, huh?

Inky Fingers Challenge 4

Hello!

Its Monday again! And now its time for a new Inky Fingers Challenge. Its the fourth week in the month so that means its a "Kit" challenge! Julie sends everyone who requests it a kit of goodies to use to make the card.

Cardstock: Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Real Red

DSP: Modern Medlay

Punch: Owl Builder, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border, Banner (SAB)

Ribbon: Real Red Taffeta 

Accessories: Antique Brad, Mini Brads

Extra: White Emboss Powder, Crystal Effects

This is actually the second card that I made. I didn't realise I had to use EVERYTHING in the kit, so I merrily went to creating a card that only used some of the bits. I couldn't seem to make the red card and ribbon and the big antique brad work, so I thought I'd just leave it a monochrome, masculine card. 

So I fiished off the card and sent it off to Julie only to get an answer that I hadn't used everything. I was like say what?! That's a lot! I scratched my head and thought hmm, how do I get those bits in?! 

Back to the drawing board I thought I'd have a go at making a more manly Valentine card! (I got Stuart's approval so in my book, its okay for a guy!)

I did the chalk board technique with the sentiment and added the red heart from the owl builder over the embossed heart. The red really pops against the black! What was really baffling me was the ribbon, I didn't want to add a bow because that's not manly apparently. I eventually thought I'd add it as a tiny little strip on the banners.

Actually I'm really please with how this turned out. The red pops and really lifts the card. To make the hearts even more special I added crystal effects.

Inky Fingers Challenge 1

Hi! 

Some of my faithful readers may know that over the past year or so I've been making projects and tutorials for the Inky Fingers Club for their subscription only special sessions. This year I am joining the weekly challenge design team for the year so not only will I be making some beautiful projects an tutorials 3 times a year for the special sessions but also a card (or other project) a week for their weekly challenge! I am really excited and hope you'll join in! 

A new challenge is released every Monday. The first challenge is a colour challenge! 

I've got to admit I did wonder what I was going to do. They're all nice colours but not ones I use much and certainly not any of my "go to" colours of choice!

The Gumball Green struck me as a really good alligator green which worked perfectly with one of the stamps from a SAB set I got on preorder - isn't it cute?! You too can earn this set and many other stamps and accessories for free from January 28th!! 

The Zoo Babies croc paired nicely to create my own patterned background for the alligator sentiment. Also its a lovely way to use the Zoo Babies for a non-baby card!! Oh I do love versatile stamps!!

Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight worked really well as subtle accents and really make the sentiment pop amongst all that green! 

I'd really love it if you'd participate and enter something using this colour challenge too. I can't wait to see what you create.
